Golf Instruction
Dave Pelz. An amazing guy. In short, he was a youth player who was good
enough to get a college scholarship to play golf for Indiana University and
studied physics for fun. He decided to work for NASA and race Jaquar's for
awhile and then began competing in golf again. Being a research-type of guy,
he began to make note of how the winners won in golf. He applied his statistical mind to how the good players obtained their low scores. He is my favorite teacher because he leads us to concentrate on the really important parts of the game.
I recommend his book: Dave Pelz's Short Game Bible.

Equipment
Please get good advice on your equipment purchases. Remember that club makers are good at marketing and attempt to make you believe that their club is the fix you are looking for. A good
club fitter will help you know what shaft type, head weight, face inclination, etc will work for you.
I recommend that you talk to Harold Garrison at Riverbend Indoor Golf.
His phone is 970-227-4008 and the web site is

I also recommend that you match all of your clubs to the same swing response, meaning that
you do not have to change your swing for any club in your bag. That prevents you from having to
learn several different swings. It is hard enough to have one consistent swing,
let alone have 2-3 swings.
I coach people to buy clubs in several steps: 1st step - you must like (no, love) the way the club looks. Once you purchase the club, it becomes a friend and the two of you must really like each other. In my earlier days, on the night before a match, I would clean my clubs for hours and then keep them in my room. I would have put them in the bed with me, but that seemed a little weird. 2nd step - spend a full bucket of practice balls finding out if the club matches your swing. Be
careful to not adjust your swing to make the club work, just hit your regular, every-day swing.
The club cannot fix your slice, your swing coach (like me) can. The
clubs job is to feel good in your hands.
Mountain Vista Greens http://mountainvistagreens.com has great prices on their equipment and
I recommend that you try them first. I would be very
happy to assist you while you test out the clubs. Just let me know when
you plan on being there.
Golf Course
Mountain Vista Greens http://mountainvistagreens.com.
A real gem. Private owned by the O'Dell family. Great people. This is a 9 hole course, but don't
begin to think that it is easy. The fairways are tight, the 2nd cut is long and the greens are
guarded. Great fun. Relax at their patio after your round
and call me for a "I didn't hit a single fairway" therapy session.
